Proteje el chip Tristar/Hydra en tu iPhone o iPad de malas corrientes de carga y voltajes que podrían matar a tu iPhone, por el método de usar un estabilizador de voltaje y circuito de protección incorporados. (Es por eso que hay tantos otros chips en él!)

Qué es el Tristar/Hydra IC?

En resumen, el Tristar (iPhone 5 - 7 plus) o Hydra (iPhone 8 y más nuevos) es el primer Circuito Integrado (IC) que se encarga de comunicaciones USB.

Es lo que detecta al conector y decide si es una computadora conectada, un cargador normal, auriculares u otro accesorio. Luego de esto, se comunica con el CPU (cerebro) y con algunos chips más para decidir cómo reaccionar. Puede abrir un camino de carga a la batería, puede redireccionar el audio para auriculares, puede incluso redirigir la energía del iPhone para alimentar otros accesorios como un dispositivo de almacenamiento. (Por favor nunca pruebes esos ventiladores que matan estos chips tan a menudo!)

Entonces, qué pasa si este chip recibe demasiado voltaje? Si no tienes la protección del cable MFi Certificado? Bueno... Un montón de cosas malas.

Best way to Carrier Unlock your iPhone - SIM Not Supported

We have many clients ask us about Carrier Unlocking to use their iPhone in another country or just on a different carrier here locally in Paraguay. There are devices and chips sold to carrier unlock your iPhone and generally only work for 1 SIM card, so you have to keep buying them again and again if you want to change your carriers. Here, we prefer the free and permanent solution when possible, so we decided to make this post just for you!

Some of the information might change here and there - depending on internal politics from the different carriers. Let us know if you have a different experience so we can update this for all to see!

Personal

Here are the conditions that must be met for Personal to allow your iPhone to be carrier unlocked.

The original contract when purchasing the iPhone must have expired and there must not be any fees pending. Here are the 2 common contract terms that are signed when getting a new iPhone.

18 months for a normal plan

24 months for business plans (more common with iPhones as Personal normally sells iPhones to businesses not single users)

Once the contract has finished and the iPhone is legally 100% yours (no more payments):

The original contract owner (person who signed the contract) must bring their ID (cedula) to the local Personal Head Quarters (Maximo Lira and España) and ask for the iPhone to be unlocked to use with other carrier. Yes, it does need to be the original contract owner. No other person can do it.

After this, a code is sent to your iPhone within 48 hours to unlock it.

Claro

Here are the conditions that must be met for Claro to allow your iPhone to be carrier unlocked.

While on the phone with Claro they told me the following. This may change year to year.

iPhones purchased before 2014 can be unlocked as they are classified as "abandoned" by Claro

iPhone purchased from 2015-2018 need to be paid off - can't have any pending cuotas (payments) - This is something you can do at any time in the contract, you just have to ask them how much more is owed and can pay it off early.

iPhone purchased after 2019 come carrier unlocked

The normal plan durations are as follows:

18 months for normal plan

Sometimes 6-12 months normally 18 months for business plan you need to verify this with Claro

Once the contract has finished or you have paid off the payments and the iPhone is legally 100% yours:

The contract owner or an "authorized user" needs to

Call Claro and ask for the carrier unlocking

You will need to have a 2nd phone to use and the other carriers new SIM card ready

1. The iPhone to carrier unlock needs to have the other carrier sim in it.

2. On the 2nd phone line you will call Claro. They will have you entering in the codes on your iPhone until it is unlocked with the new carrier sim

Your iPhone will be unlocked instantly !

Original owner can call and authorize another person to do it.

This person needs to be added an authorized user on the account for modifications - be careful though that this is someone you trust. We would not recommend to authorize someone you just sold your iPhone to as they would have access to your account information and could make changes.

Tigo

Tigo is our favorite. After hearing their process, we will be recommending our clients to use them.

The original contract when purchasing the iPhone must have expired or be paid off and there must not be any fees pending. Here are the 2 common contract terms that are signed when getting a new iPhone.

18 months for a normal plan

24 months for business plans

If for some reason the iPhone is not paid off from the plan or the previous owner, you can pay off the pending balance your self. You do not need to be the original contract owner to do this! If it is still under contract you can also pay it off early or at any time in the contract.

What you need to carrier unlock a Tigo iPhone is:

This will take a maximum of 7 days to unlock

How to convert any external HDD to work with Mac

Here at La Clinica de la Manzana, we hear all sorts of questions. The focus of this guide is to answer a common question we receive about external HDD compatibility and also to help you out with converting your portable disks to work for your Mac if you don't want to pay that extra $$$ to buy a new one or the special "Ready for MacOS" external HDD that is identical to the normal external HDDs.

! This process will ERASE all and any data on the HDD you are working with !

TL/DR

1. Open Disk Utility

2. Plug in your new external HDD

3. Select your external HDD, Erase disk, Create a name you like and change Format type to ExFAT.

4. Click Erase and you are good to go.

1. Open "Disk Utility"

Open Spotlight search. You can do this with the shortcut by holding "Command" and tapping "Space" . With the Spotlight search bar open, type in Disk Utility .

You can also open Finder, navigate to Applications and then the Utilities folder. Disk Utility is in here also.

This is what you should see.

2. Plug in your new external HDD

When the system asks if you want to use this New disk as a Time Machine backup, select Don't Use

Selecting the new disk under "External" on the left side, you will be able to see information about it. In this case, the new HDD is ready for use only with a Windows system. It has the file structure NTFS that macOS can not write to without special software.

3. Erase and set the new Format

Make sure your new disk is selected on the left under External. Then click " Erase " near the top in the center. Here you can rename your disk to whatever you would like.

Under " Format " select ExFAT . This file system will allow very large files to be saved like video to be edited with no real limitations (about 1,000,000GB maximum file size) For reference, MS-DOS Fat32 only allows 4GB maximum file size.

4. Click Erase - and your good to go

After setting your new Disk name and select ExFAT for the format, select Erase . This should finish up quickly and your disk is ready to use with your Mac and also can be used with a Windows machine with no issues!

Well, neither do we. So we thought we would show you the difference between MFi Certified Apple cables and the fakes that are so common here in the local market and all around the world.

The good news is, we can fix most all charging and no power issues caused by these fake cables here at La Clinica de la Manzana but would prefer you don't have any issues to begin with!

Protects your Tristar/Hydra chip in your iPhone or iPad from bad charging currents and voltages that can Kill your iPhone by method of a built in voltage stabilizer and protection circuitry. (That's why there are so many more chips in it!)

What is the Tristar/Hydra IC?

Long story short, the Tristar (iPhone 5 - 7 plus) or Hydra (iPhone 8 and newer) is the First Integrated Circuit (IC) that takes care of USB communications.

It is what detects the Lightning connector and decides if it is a computer connected, normal charger, headphones or other accessory. After this, it talks to the CPU (brain) and some other chips to decide how to react. It can open up a Charging Path to the battery, it can redirect the Audio for headphones it can even redirect power out of the iPhone to power other accessories like a storage device. (Please don't ever try those Fans they Kill this chip so often!)

So what happens if this chip receives too much voltage? If you don't have the protection from the MFi Certified cable? Well... Lots of bad things.

To name a few-

Dead iPhone - No response to power button
iPhone is stuck on apple logo
iPhone fake charging (maybe 20-50% charge overnight)
Accessory not supported - from a real cable
Battery percentage drops from 80% to 60% or some crazy amount in just a few minutes after disconnecting from the charger
Poor battery life
Random restarts
Only charges when iPhone is off
Won't charge when battery is 100% dead

There are a few more also, but these are the most common side effects to a bad Tristar chip that we see here at La Clinica de la Manzana .

Real Screens vs Fake Screens

iPhone Screens : 13 Dangers of using a fake, cheap or low quality screen.

The case of the broken iPhone screen

Joseph: Carlos! How are you? This is Joseph. Tell me.. how did you end up breaking your screen?

Carlos: I was texting someone and then it slipped... I saw it land right on the corner when it hit the floor and hear a dreadful slap sound.

Joseph: Aw man.. that's terrible luck... Its like you are watching it fall in slow motion and then you hope for the best. It's not right at all is it!

Carlos: Yeah... It feels terrible, on top of which I use my iPhone all the time...

Joseph: You're always using it... It sounds like you can't go long without it working...

Carlos: Yeah, the thing is, I use it for work and stuff.

Joseph: Ahh yes, completely understandable! Here's the deal. We are not allowed to say that we sell original screens.. still, we can show you how to identify a fake screen from an original one.

In reality Carlos you can put any screen on to your iPhone ... The market here is full of technicians who say: "a screen is a screen" ... so for them, it does not matter then the quality of the parts or anything like that only the quantity of sales and profit.

I ask you: Do you think someone who thinks like that will do a good job changing your screen?

Carlos: Yeahhh... I really doubt it...

Joseph: You also expose yourself to various problems when you use a cheap or low quality fake screen. From now on, we're going to call all these screens Fake, do you agree?

13 Dangers you are exposed to with a Fake iPhone screen

#1 - The screen doesn't fit the iPhone properly.

With an Original screen, when installed it fits perfectly. You won't really notice it has even been changed (besides not being broken any more). If you want to sell you iPhone in the future to buy another one or whatever, it's OK, because your screen is original.

The ones that are not original generally do not fit right at all and have spaces between the house of the iPhone and the screen..

#2 - The glass is thinner.

There are 3 primary parts is most iPhone screens. There's the backlight, the LCD, and the glass.

On the fake screens the glass is super thin.

What does that mean?

If you drop it again, if you squeeze it in your pocket, practically if you look at it wrong, it has a very high probability of breaking.

#3 - The colors are different (Bad image quality).

What does that mean? If I show you two iPhone screens, an original one versus a fake, you'll be able to see the huge difference in colors.

If you are used to the original screen experience, the fake will look like crap to you.

The glass of the fake screens, apart from being weaker, also makes your screen darker due to manufacturing imperfections.

#4 - Problems with touch.

This is another jewel of the fake screens. What's worse than changing your screen and already having touch problems. On top of the fact that you invested your money and time, and in the end it doesn't work well.

In this case the screen responds to your fingers BUT it can take much longer.

When you write a whatsapp message, answer a call, or check your instagram feeds... ughh... good luck, brother.

#5 - Instantly voids the warranty.

This actually.. well, it only applies in case you bought your new iPhone and it still has warranty, but anyway, I should mention it.

#6 - It can damage your phone if it's not installed properly.

This really isn't a joke. There is something called Long Screw Damage.

The truth is we don't know why - (we do know why, but draw your own conclusions) - but inside an iPhone 6 for example, right over the screen connectors, there are 5 screws, all almost the same, and one of them is 0.15 millimeter longer than the rest.

What usually happens is that inexperienced technicians (the ones I told you about before) put those screws in the wrong places and as a result they damage your motherboard in a way that can kill your iPhone.

#7 - The glass comes off (backlight + lcd + glass).

The screen delaminates. This is also very common with fake screens. The glass peels off like its nothing.

They use a glue called HMG (Hot Melt Glue), heat it up and stick the glass to the LCD. At first it works fine, but soon the glass will start to delaminate.

And guess what... when that happens, you need a new one.

All the time we hear: "Only the glass broke but the image is fine, can you change it?" And the answer is NO.

That's not a professional job. It's like you need heart surgery and we give you a band-aid. Really now?

#8 - Viewing Angles

Ever try to glance over at your iPhone while it is on a table next to you? Fake screens have terrible viewing angles. If you look at a fake screen at an angle... colors change, text disappears, it's not bright at all... the only way to see the image is by staring at it while it is under your nose.

#9 - You won't be able to see your iPhone with sunglasses.

Just forget about using your iPhone if you're wearing sunglasses.

What happens is that the fake LCD screen is black in several orientations if you look at it with sunglasses.

Some times vertically, other times horizontally. If you are one of those who wear a lot of sunglasses.. Think before you change your display.

#10 - Flex cables do not have the same resistance and therefore fail.

Since absolutely nothing is original and of good quality with a fake screen, the connectors internally do NOT have the same durability.

Some are harder and break easily, or are too soft and also fail.

#11 - Low resolution

We have seen this time and time again. The fake screens have less pixels. We have even seen some with only 1/2 the pixel count! How? The fake screens have more and more black space between pixel, leaving you with lower and lower quality images...

#12 - iOS updates.

Something very interesting happened with the issue of screens and the iOS update.

Fake displays don't use original LCDs, so Apple has the ability to lock those displays with iOS updates.

That means that when using a fake display, you can end up with an iPhone that has no display, is only half working, or fails to restore the system.

It's very similar to what happened with "Error 53" in which any iPhone with touch id failure would also fail to restore through iTunes.

#13 - Short battery life.

As I mentioned before, since this is not the original iPhone screen, to maintain better contrast, it uses a lot of battery making its poor quality backlight brighter.

The batteries work by charging cycles. The more charge cycles your battery has, the less battery life it will have. 1+1=2

Bonus Problems - Dead Pixels, or dead zones on the screen.

In addition.. It's very common for fake screens to come with dead pixels or artifact and dead zones on the screen!

It's not really a big deal, but if you are going to pay for something... We think it's good to pay for something worthwhile.

Conclusion

That's the thing.. at the end of the day it's your decision.. We simply fulfilled our mission to inform you.

It's up to you to decide whether to invest in an original screen and save yourself a lot of headaches, or spend your money on the cheaper ones - and well.. you know the consequences.

If you broke your screen and want to repair it, that's only because you want your iPhone alive longer. Whether you want to give it to someone as a present or if you just want to sell it.

Whatever it is. It depends a lot on what you want to do with your iPhone to choose the best strategy.

My advice, always choose the original ones, in the end it's cheaper.

If you decide to spend your money on a cheap one, when you have problems, we'll still wait for you at La Clinica de la Manzana, no hard feelings.
